What is Orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment usually involves the wearing of
braces, fixed or removable, which are used to straighten
the teeth and correct the bite. Both Children and adults
can benefit from orthodontic treatment. The practice is
not only concerned with the correction of teeth, but also
that of facial profile.

Treatment Timing
- We encourage the referral of children at the age of
6-8 years, so that any growth disharmony and abnormal
growth can be detected early and treatment planned
for the optimal time.
- Treatment is often best started around 9 years, sometimes
even earlier, to allow maximum facial change and
shorter treatment times.
- Early treatment, when appropriate, can usually be carried
out at an age when there are less schooling and social
demands on the child, often making this an ideal time
to be treated.
Dental irregularities in the teenage patient may still be
treated with maximum efficiency to produce optimal results.
Can Adults also benefit?
Adults can still benefit from treatment and achieve the
smile they always wanted; the practice of adult
orthodontics has been becoming increasingly more
popular in recent years
Treatment Length
Successful Orthodontic treatment can only be achieved
with the total co-operation of both patients and their
parents and usually takes 18-24 months to complete.
Complicated orthodontic problems may require
slightly longer.
